How it must grieve Him to know that millions of theworld's poorest children today face a lifetime of suffering and hardship. They receive very little education, learn few skills, suffer from poor health,and worst of all, many will never discover how much God loves them.

A better future....

When children arrive at the Abraham Project, they receive HOPE for a better future. These abandoned children have experienced malnutrition, neglect, poverty, and other forms of abuse.

Your loving financial help earmarked for OPERATION ABRAHAM will go to sponsor these children in one of our children's homes. As a sponsor, you become a special friend to these treasured children. You will be providing hope through a loving Christian home environment.

Your support provides these children with life-changing opportunities. This includes education, basic health care and services, plus the prospect of being loved, encouraged, and valued. In short, you'll be giving them a future.

The Abraham Project ensures that all children involved with our programs hear the gospel and have the opportunity to trust in Jesus. Our goal is to lead the children into a lifestyle of Christian faith. A dedicated staff of committed believers will empower children through life-changing encounters with the greatest commandment,

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind...."

Matthew 22:37-40

Personal growth....

Each at-risk child is provided opportunities to prepare for their future. Formal education, guided recreation, life-skills training, health care, personal hygiene, spiritual growth, Bible study and Christian discipleship are just a part of the Project's scope.

Abraham Project...

The Abraham Project is the vision of Iglesia Comunidad Cristiana El Faro (Lighthouse Community Christian Church), a local church in Costa Rica. The project is strategically located on 2.4 acres in a marginal area east of San Jose. The project consists of five distinct areas:

1. Homes for abandoned children - Three group homes provide a safe and secure environment for these rescued children. A loving, Christian host family will serve as house parents for these precious little ones. Adoption will be considered an option for each child.

2. Multi-purpose building - Will be used as a sanctuary for church services as well as a gymnasium where troubled youth will have the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ.

3. Daycare center - Includes classrooms and a cafeteria. This will provide a secure place where single mothers and families can bring their children while they are working.

4. Consultation offices - Will be used by Christian professionals (physicians, engineers, lawyers, counselors, etc.) to provide services through the Abraham Project for people who ordinarily could not afford them.

5. Job-4-U - This program trains and educates single mothers and parents with valuable job skills in order to adequately support their families.

Did You Know?

From January to June 2002, PANI (Costa Rica Child Welfare Agency) intervened in:

• 4,480 cases of abandonment

• 403 cases of physical abuse

• 3,475 cases of sexual abuse

• 1,601 cases of psychological abuse

(OS, Department of State, March 31, 2003).

Four out of every ten people living in poverty in Costa Rica are children twelve years old or younger (La Nacion, November 23, 2001).

One-third of babies born in Costa Rica are bom to unknown fathers (La Nacion, May 11, 2000).

The Abraham Project is reaching Costa Rica for Christ one child at a time.
