Pastor Gomez is the Founder of the Abraham Project. He is a native of Costa Rica. At age 10, he gave his life to the Lord Jesus, and at age 17, he founded his first church.
In his 25 years of ministry, God has always been faithful. He has coordinated several evangelical events and pastoral training conferences on both the national and international levels. He has founded several churches, worked with a youth movement that helps youth find their vocation in the ministry, and is also founder of the first interdenominational missionary agency of Costa Rica.

My heart's desire is that thousands of people know the Lord as their Savior and to assist people in need that I find along the way. Part of this philosophy can be found in the Abraham Project, because its purpose is to bring people to the feet of Jesus. We are committed to serving children, youth and adults. |

The Thomas Family
| |
Stephen and Georgiana Thomas have served as missionaries in Costa Rica since August 1997. They and their four children packed their bags and attended language training before commencing work with the Abraham Project. Armed with an intense desire to help children who are neglected and abandoned, they began networking with other ministries that protect and restore children. This would help serve as a foundation for their future work with abandoned children. Stephen and Georgiana have received and organized short-term mission teams. These teams have proven to be an excellent resource for the Abraham Project, as they have donated funds, tools, and many hours of labor. Fundraising has been another important aspect of the ministry. Stephen often travels stateside attending missions conferences and sharing in churches. Raising funds and awareness about the project are of utmost importance. In June 2003, the first of three children’s homes was completed and dedicated. The following year brought much anticipation as the final government permits were secured to officially open the doors for operation on April 1, 2004. The Abraham Project received its first four children from the government. These children are currently in the process of being declared abandoned by the State. The Thomas family has served as “Tios” or substitute family for the children. The children come from diverse backgrounds and have suffered neglect and abuse. Although these kids are labeled ‘abandoned’ by the world’s system, their heavenly Father has not abandoned them. Not only has He provided for their needs, but also for their future. Many years have been dedicated to reach this point. It is through obedience to God that the lives of many children will be changed for an eternity.

| God takes each one of us on our very own faith adventure. An adventure is characterized as an undertaking of uncertain outcome. In order to take such a risk, we must exercise confidence in God’s ability to see us through even when we can not see the road ahead of us. If we choose to get out beyond life’s boundaries, we will find an adventure for the taking! “The greatest hazard in life is to do nothing.” - Anonymous Chicago Teacher |

Candace Brown
| |
Candace Brown has been on the Abraham Project team since March 11, 2003. She came to Costa Rica with the purpose of working for a humanitarian organization. After meeting the Thomas' while visiting the Abraham Project, she decided to join them as a long-term missionary.
Candace enjoys working at the project and has been used in coordinating and over-seeing the mission groups that come from around the world to do construction. She is a resident of Tennessee, and has a bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Asbury College.
Candace loves the people and culture of Latin America and feels right at home in Costa Rica. She lived in Panama as a child because her father was stationed there as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army. Candace feels blessed to be used at the Abraham Project and would like to encourage others to join in this opportunity to serve abandoned and abused children. |

Brauny & Ingrid Rojas
| |
Brauny, Ingrid, Yohel, and soon to be new addition have been training since June 2004 to be the first set of Costa Rican houseparents. The training process has included psychological orientation, understanding the daily routine, and administrative and legal responsibilities. They firmly believe that God has called them to a ministry of love, care, and teaching, which will be for the benefit of the abandoned children in their immediate care.
Their official role as houseparents will begin on May 16, 2005. Please pray that God will give them the grace, patience, and wisdom in this process. It is their desire that these children impact their generation for Christ.

Construction Crew Of The Abraham Project
| |
These local Costa Rican men play a very important role in the Abraham Project. Every day they work diligently to keep the building process moving along. Some of the workers that have come to the project are non-believers. Through the formation of relationships among the workers, many have converted to Christianity.
